You’ve decided to move to the Eugene area but you’d like to be in a smaller town just outside of the city? Today we are talking about Junction City, Oregon.
The town of Junction City is a highly sought-after area. With just under 5,400 people, it’s a tight-knit community that makes it a great place to live, work, and play. Where is Junction City in proximity to Eugene? Junction City is just over 15 miles northwest of Eugene’s city center on Hwy 99 and it’s less than 10 miles away from the Eugene Airport.
As I record this message in March of 2024 the median home sales price for the last six months in Junction City is $491,400. From homes built in the early 1900s with acreage to new construction in town and everything in between, there’s something for everyone in this charming town.
Junction City is home to several local businesses, including restaurants, bars, retail stores, and more. Larger grocery options include Safeway and the new Grocery Outlet at the north end of town. There are also many farms close to town for locally sourced options as well.
Junction City is rich in history and still has some of the original structures from when the town was founded in the late 1800s. You can travel through time by taking an educational walking tour through town. You can download a map and audio guide from the Junction City Historical Society which is fun for the whole family.
JC also loves a party. It’s home to the Daffodil Festival in March, the Function4Junction in June, and the popular Scandinavian Festival that celebrates the town’s roots in August.
Moving to Junction City with kids? Depending on the location of your home your kids will attend either Laurel Elementary or Territorial Elementary. The town also includes Oaklea Middle School and Junction City High.
Junction City has a tight-knit community feel and is a great place to call home near Eugene. I hope you found this information helpful. I’d love to hear from you. You can call, email, or leave a comment down below. I work hard to stay connected.
